    Biography of Jasmine Wilson

Born on May 25th, 1983 in the hills of Hollywood, California to mother Jacqueline Dorsey and father Gregory Wilson. A happy and creative child, she spent her formative years in the rolling foothills of Rancho Cucamonga. Growing up, Jasmine developed a love for music and art that was cultivated by her mother, an art teacher and former professional singer featured in the Grammy-nominated hit Mr. Big Stuff.

As her mother focused on enriching her creative interests and abilities, Jasmine’s father, Gregory Wilson, a well-known and respected marketing tycoon was busy building and refining an interest in business that would both inspire and propel her to ultimately pursue a career in the marketing industry. “My child-hood gave me an advantage over most other children: many kids have one parent who really pushes them and motivates them to overcome obstacles and define themselves early in life by their interests and their goals. I was fortunate enough to have that from both parents. My Mother gave me the gift of creative exploration and the ability to feel very comfortable in my own skin while my Father introduced me to the fundamental principles of successful business relationships. To this day, I carry with me the motto he taught me years ago….’smooth and professional’. It’s even on my license plate!”

As Jasmine continued to grow and learn, she began to exhibit the leadership qualities that would define her among her teachers as well as her peers, as a natural leader. Upon graduating high school with honors, she received a full basketball scholarship to Norfolk State University where she would further demonstrate these qualities as both on and off the court as a Captain on the floor and a leader in the classroom. At the conclusion of her studies, she graduated in 2006 with a Marketing Degree, a Minor in Physical Education, and an AA in Liberal Arts.

Although Jasmine had never intended to work in the music industry, the choice to pursue a career in music seemed like a natural one. Her passion for music inspired by her mother and her love for business and marketing kindled by her father led Jasmine to make the decision to start her own management company. “During my time in college, I was fortunate enough to meet several young artists who I really connected with. I had formed really great friendships with these artists and I truly believed in their talent and their passion for music…I wanted to be a part of that. So here I am.”

"If you want to run you have to learn how to walk.
If you want to fly you have to earn your wings."

As Jasmine’s management company, JD Wilson Management blossomed, so did the careers of her artists. Blais, her star talent was quickly climbing the ladder of success in the local and national r&b scene and she found herself dedicating more and more of her time working with him to keep up with the pace. Soon, she made the decision that in order to truly represent him to the best of her abilities, she would have to focus her management services solely on his promotion.

Under Jasmine’s direction, Blais has successfully transitioned from being a part of a group into a very promising solo career. From landing spots in well-respected venues such as 1st Annual Play N Skillz All Star Weekend (ft. Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Play N Skillz, Big Tuck, Kinfolk Kia Shine, Amanda Perez, and Candy Hill) to the January ‘08 release of his debut single “Hold It Down”, Jasmine has proved that the combination of Blais’ talent and her business savvy is a powerful force to be reckoned with.

Meanwhile, Jasmine had made the decision to expand her entrepreneurial horizons by taking full advantage of her marketing expertise and going to work for two local sister companies as an online marketing specialist. This decision, fueled by her love of marketing and her unrelenting ambition proved to be a success. In this position, she was able to demonstrate not only her business and marketing expertise, but also her creative flair through the creation of graphics, web, and print design.

After realizing her appeal for new and exciting challenges, Jasmine found herself ready to sign onto several new projects that would not only engage her talents in new ways, but also grant her the ability to grow her experience level as a professional.
